The Volare team came together for a memorable day of team building for our annual staff summer event, with departments going head-to-head in the first ever VolareSports Day.
Hosted at The Pit Kitchen, in Moreton-in-Marsh, the event was designed to bring the team together away from the workplace, combining great food, friendly competitionand beautiful scenery.
A Breakfast to Kick Things Off
The day began with a relaxed breakfast, giving everyone the opportunity to catch up over a bacon sandwich and some fresh fruit before their competitive spirits kicked in. With the teams fuelled and sufficiently hydrated, it was time for the games to begin.
Fierce Competition Takes Centre Stage
Six teams battled it out in a series of traditional school sports day activities, including an egg and spoon race, a sack race, welly wanging, corn-hole toss and a long jump relay. The competition was fierce, with each department determined to be crowned the first ever Volare Sports day champions.
It was the Spreadsheet Sprinters (the finance team) who eventually emerged victorious after a fierce tug-of-war face off against the stealthy storekeepers (CAMO and stores). They were crowned the first ever Volare Sports Day champions and were awarded the prestigious trophy and a gift voucher for a team lunch.
A Feast in the Fields
Following the morning’s sporting action, everyone gathered for a delicious lunch surrounded by the Cotswold countryside, before settling into an afternoon of entertainment and relaxation.
Staff enjoyed frozen cocktails in the sunshine, while an extremely talented balloon artist kept everyone entertained with her creative designs, including helicopters, planes, floral fascinators and more. She even managed to teach our Founder and Chairman, Dustin how to make a balloon sausage dog.
A bespoke hat embroidery station also proved popular, allowing each team member to personalise their own Volare cap with their initials to take home as a keepsake.
It is safe to say that everyone had a lovely time and came away feeling very merry and a little sun burnt!
